Solar energy ‘important’ for properties

The importance of solar energy in properties has been discussed by the National Energy Foundation (NEF).

According to a spokesman for the organisation, all new properties should be built with solar panels.

With the group's main aim being to encourage businesses and consumers to reduce their carbon emissions, any moves by homeowners to make use of solar energy are sure to be welcomed.

People with mortgages for professionals looking to sell their homes may find that implementing sustainable features such as solar panels helps them stand out in an eco-conscious market.

Indeed, research by Tickbox.net and Opinion Matters - conducted on behalf of utilities firm npower earlier this year - found that 56 per cent of people did not know that it was possible to generate renewable energy from technology installed in the home.

"I still firmly believe that every single property that is built in the UK, if it doesn't have solar panels on it [...] then I ask, 'Why?'," the NEF representative explained.

He added that biomass is "an incredibly significant technology", but unlike solar it is not an infinite quality.
