Credit crunch sees more seeking professional mortgage advice
Some half a million requests for details in the last 12 months has been attributed to the recent global credit crunch that has affected lenders and borrowers alike.
The figure is nearly a 17 per cent increase on the previous year, underlining the need for professional advice in times of uncertainty in the financial lending sector.
Commenting on the figures, David Elms, chief executive of the independent financial adviser (IFA), said: "When consumers are worried about issues in the global financial markets, their IFA is the first place they go to for help.
"Volatility in current financial markets has resulted in some uncertainty amongst holders of investment products."
According to the research, most of the requests were for either retirement planning or mortgages.
According to Creative Match, research from the Chartered Institute of Marketers reveals that many financial services marketers expect growth in sales of around six per cent next year.
